Cackling Goose (Branta hutchinsii leucopareia)
The Cackling Goose's black head and neck and white stripe going across the chin is the trademark features of this goose. This is due to the fact that this feature does not belong to all geese except the Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) who has a more rounded head and short neck, and the Barnacle Goose (Branta leucopsis). These geese are hard to distinguish from the Canada goose,to which the cackling goose was long assumed to be one species.
